New York Recap

So London Fashion Week has already kicked off and Freja made her first ever appearance on the British catwalks earlier today at the Matthew Williamson show. It's great to see her walking his shows again, after a few seasons' hiatus. And it's wonderful to see her in London for the big 25th Anniversay of LFW! In the past few months Freja has really amped up her work ethic, appearing in more editorials and on more catwalks than ever before. It's a joy to see this change so far into her career and after a shaky 2008.

Anyway, I'll tackle a London recap after the shows wrap up there on Tuesday. If there are any Londoners out there, I wish you good luck in catching a glimpse of Freja. In the meantime, here is Freja's New York Fashion Week Recap.

New York Fashion Week SS10 - 10 Shows Total
2 Opening Slots
0 Closing Slots

Alexander Wang - 2 Looks
Arise: African Promise Fashion Collective (O) - 2 Looks
Derek Lam - 2 Looks
Erin Wasson x RCVA (O) - 2 Looks
Marc by Marc Jacobs
Marc Jacobs
Michael Kors
Narciso Rodriguez - 2 Looks
Rag & Bone
Rodarte

Freja started the week as expected by walking the Rag & Bone show Friday night. Designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville are Freja fans and she's walked every show for them since the beginning. Surprisingly, she also walked the Arise: African Promise Fashion Collection show and the Erin Wasson x RCVA show on the same night, opening both shows. It was nice to see her supporting up and coming talent and her fellow model friend.

On Saturday we saw Freja at the much hyped Alexander Wang show donning two looks.

Sunday was another calm day with Freja walking the Derek Lam show. It was a good to see her styled femininely for a show, and as Joe Zee pointed out, doing the "no pants' look that's so in right now.

Freja kept up her pattern of walking only one big name show per day on Monday by walking the Marc Jacbos show. She's never missed a Marc show since the start of her career.

Tuesday was a busy day for Freja, and brought the best surprise of fashion week for me in that she walked the Rodarte show. Everyone loves the vision and creativity of the Mulleavy sisters. The tend to create their clothes amidst a milieu of dark beauty with grotesque underpinnings, and I've always wanted Freja to walk their show. Needless to say, I was thrilled that it finally happened this season. The rest of the day saw Freja walk Marc by Marc Jacobs and Narciso Rodriguez.

On the second to last day of New York Fashion Week, Freja only walked the Michael Kors show, and it would turn out to be her last for the week.

She was entirely absent on the last day, missing Isaac Mizrahi, Phi, and Tommy Hilfiger - all shows that she walked in last season. Maybe she left town early to prepare for her London debut... All the pictures are HQ so you can click through. Now that New York is done, we can just sit and enjoy London pictures as they roll in.

Also, I really hope you check back tomorrow because I have a great fan encounter story from New York to share with you, complete with pictures thanks to a very kind and generous Freja fan. :)
