FTV Countdown

This is what all fans wait for. A glimpse at the person behind all the clothes and makeup; the person off the runway and behind the scenes.

This season Freja comes in at #2 on the FTV countdown, up a spot from #3 last season. Bear my cheesiness, but she's like a fine wine, getting better with age. ;)

She also takes the top spot for the city of Milan. No interview; just a compilation of catwalk looks starting at 13:30:

Here are a few things that caught my attention:

-It's funny how we go from always napping backstage at Marni, to literally jumping up and down with energy this season @ 1:15.

-Perhaps we should expect a career transition into music very soon. After all, Freja has a DIY home studio with a plethora of guitars, a piano and drums. That doesn't simply sound like something she does casually on her off days--seems more serious than that to me.

-Oh, so those combat boots Freja was sporting everywhere this past season are Balmain. Who knew? So Christophe makes a $1,000 version of something Doc Martens makes for $100. I'm totally side-eyeing Decarnin right now.

-About a year after her initial move to New York, Freja is moving again. This time to Brooklyn. Why does it feel like everyone and their mother is moving to Brooklyn these days? It's not like the rent is any cheaper...

Anyway, it's always a pleasure to watch these videos. Most of the time, models are seen and not heard, so it's a treat when FTV puts these out after each season. If you have some time to kill, take a look at the rest of the girls making up the top ten.

10. Kasia Struss
9. Ginta Lapina
8. Karmen Pedaru
7. Julija Steponaviciute
6. Monika "Jac" Jagaciak
5. Lindsey Wixson
4. Frida Gustavsson
3. Caroline Brasch Nielsen
2. Freja
1. Karlie Kloss

It's a solid list and I'm happy to see girls like Julija and Karmen included. There are others I could do without, but you win some, you lose some.

First Face Countdown

For those who haven't seen it yet:

Priceless, witty, comedy gold. I love that Karmen is standing there laughing her ass off during the entire interview. And maybe it's just me, but I feel like her dry humor is rubbing off on Freja here. Compare the above interview to this one from just last season and the difference is palpable, at least to me:

Gotta love FTV for these interviews. And huge thanks to tFS member Medicine Man for capturing and sharing the video in the first place, and for user T Dot at vimeo for uploading it with sound.

FTV

Are you still feeling withdrawls from the F/W runway shows ending? Lucky for you, FTV has started uploading their videos onto their youtube account. We're talking dozens of them from this past season and from older seasons too. They have videos of runway shows, front rows, backstage, parties, recaps and of course their infamous Model Talks.

If you have patience and a good chunk of free time, browse through and I'm sure you'll find some Freja clips or something else that interests you. If you love seeing what the backstage of a show looks like, then FTV's youtube channel is your new best friend. Just a small taste:

Roberto Cavalli F/W 10.11 Backstage @ 1:04, 1:22, 2:45

Max Mara F/W 10.11 Backstage @ 0:22, 0:32, 1:36

Not only do you get a good sense of what it feels like backstage; you also get to see a lot of different models as they get prepped, making these videos a haven if you're into model street style as well. Furthermore, you get the chance to hear different, lesser known models talk, which is always an enjoyable and surprising thing.

It seems like FTV is going through their Milan footage now, so hopefully this means Paris footage isn't too far behind. And after that, perhaps another batch of Model Talks vids? Fingers crossed.

All's Quiet

Things have been very quiet on the news front recently, and I imagine that they'll remain so as things slowly grind to a halt in preparation for this week's Thanksgiving holiday. Chanel events will be taking place in China, but it remains to be seen whether Freja will be present for any of the festivities.

So I'd just like to take this time to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy the time spent with family and friends. Enjoy stuffing yourself silly with the requisite turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy. And most of all, enjoy your four day weekend. :) I hope everyone travels safe and stays healthy, happy and warm.

And if watching football after eating turkey isn't your thing (it's definitely not mine), you can always check youtube for all the videos that fellow fashion fans have graciously uploaded. There are some great backstage ones (with small glimpses of Freja) from...

Bits and Bytes

Things are ratcheting up as we get closer to the SS10 shows. Only 1 month away! Are you excited?

Freja dusted off her runway walk for Copenhagen Fashion Week last Thursday. She opened and closed the Mads Norgaard show.

Hopefully this means we'll see a "Copenhagen Experience #3" very soon. The fashion film series by Mads Norgaard was supposed to be a trilogy. We saw films #1 and #2 a long time ago but #3 has yet to surface. So I'm going to take Freja opening and closing for Mads as a good sign of things to come.

For those who haven't seen them, here is #1:

And #2:

FTV also just released a new "Models" segment for Freja containing footage from the FW0910 shows.

These types of videos are some of my favorite things about fashion weeks. I just love seeing footage of models backstage during prep. I know it's slightly voyeuristic, but it's really the only chance we get to see our favorite girls in motion off the runway.

That's it for now. As the summer winds down I think we'll start seeing Freja more and more. Don't we have a few eds to look forward to?
