Vogue Paris Cover

2010 is turning out to be the year of Freja. Five years after her debut, she's as strong, ubiquitous, and popular as ever. Congrats to Freja and congrats to all the old fans who have stuck with her through thick and thin, and to all the new fans who are just discovering her many facets.

I'm of course overjoyed that Freja has landed her first solo Vogue Paris cover! But the moment is bittersweet for me because I keep thinking, "What about Raquel!? When is she going to get her cover?" Nevertheless, if the model isn't Raquel then I'm so happy it's Freja for she was long overdue for a solo cover as well.

My initial reactions on the visual appeal of the cover are too affected by my sheer excitement. That stare can sure kill you. However, I will say that I think the cover looks kind of shopped. The fur of the clothes blur Freja's silhouette, making it appear as if her image was cut out and pasted over the background. Maybe HQs will remedy this. I also think Freja is capable of more than what she's conveying on this cover. Perhaps this just isn't living up to my expectations in a month where the Vogue UK cover took me completely by surprise in the best way possible.

Anyway, all of this success couldn't be happening to a more deserving, humble and fantastic model. It's days like these when I'm SO proud to be a fan and proud to run this tiny blog.

I just saw this on fashin and my jaw literally dropped at the sight of her on VP cover, solo etc. Like I said, this cover is long long long overdue. She has been overlooked one too many times. I remember the 2007 Vogue US cover where other models were chosen over her for the multi-model cover and it bothered me so much (some deservedly, others not so much). Although this doesn't completely make up for it but I am absolutely overjoyed for her. Now I hope she can carry this momentum forward for the next several seasons to come.

^Excellent point! I, too, feel like she was overlooked and underrated for SO long. It seems as if things are finally making up for it all. One would definitely be hard pressed to argue that she isn't the model of the year with all her campaigns, covers, editorials and runway appearances. Now my fingers are crossed that all of this translates into another great 5 years.

Oh absolutely, I think she is very much the model of the year. And if she this up I can see her going past the like of Sasha and Anja on the models.com ranking. When she climbed as high as 3 on the models.com ranking, I thought maybe this is as good as it can get. My mistake for not giving her enough credit.

^I thought the same about her models.com ranking. Though I'm still not convinced she'll knock anyone out. Maybe she'll tie with with Sasha and Poly? I don't know why, but no matter how successful Freja is, I'm always waiting for the other shoe to drop. :/ It just feels like things are too good to be true.

I am a bit of a pessimist, myself and the whole notion of "all good things must eventually come to an end" does put a damper on all this positivity.

LOL, I feel like we think in exactly the same way when it comes to Freja and her career. If I ever stop blogging I'm going to hand the reigns over to you! :P For now, I think it's ok if we just revel in the moment and we'll cross that bridge when we get to it....if we get to it.

I am happy for her but damn...I really dislike this cover. She deserved it though but like you said, I'm still waiting for Raquel's. I'm hoping she gets the September cover.
Anyway, back to Freja's cover. I preferred her Vogue UK cover, I mean this isn't HORRIBLE, but not her best imo.

I will still be getting this though lol. Excited about the huge Sims editorial inside

All of these firsts for Freja lately, I'm half expecting a US Vogue cover in the near future. lol

I love the cover and congrats to her for an outstanding year so far!

LOL We were discussing yesterday the chances of her climbing up a spot or two on models.com and guess what? She is number two on the list (tied with Poly) and right behind Lara. The good news just keep coming....

^LOL, I saw that she moved up and immediately thought of our conversation. :) In this case I'm absolutely happy to be wrong. Now lets just hope I'm also wrong about things being too good to be true. So I'm eagerly awaiting for the SS11 season to begin so we can see how Freja will do....fingers crossed!

She's on W too and there's an ed in Interview
August = Freja's month ? :))

^ I'm pretty sure the tfs-member who mentioned a new editorial in Interview Magazine is talking about the "Tough Ballerina"-ed that was already posted. So NO new Interview-editorial I guess.

I think Carla-A follows Freja enough to not mistake Tough Ballerina with other eds, no ?
Well we'll see about that :)
