The News We've All Been Waiting For!

We were anticipating it, expecting it, demanding it. And now it's here and it's true. Freja has the March 2010 cover of Vogue Italia shot by Steven Meisel!
"We welcome spring through the intense gaze of Freja Beha Erichsen, the 22-year old Danish top model, clad in a white lace dress by Dolce e Gabbana. Behind the camera the skillful eye of fashion photographer Steven Meisel. This is the cover look for the new issue of Vogue, at your newsstand on 3 March. The magazine, with its photo shoots, interviews and cult features, will tell us about the month of March, dictating the latest trends in fashion and beauty but also in art and music. Always focusing on events and celebrities. "
For Freja fans who've been with her for years (like myself) , this is the news we've always hoped for but never thought to be in the realm of possibility. In fact, hearing it now still seems a little surreal. Like a fuzzy dream that leaves remnants in your memory after you wake up. But this IS real.

How very fitting that we end the last day of Milan Fashion Week with this news. During one of her best runway seasons ever, we get the proverbial cherry on top; icing on the cake; having our cake and eating it too. Truly, truly unbelievable in the best possible way. I feel like words just aren't adequate enough to express how happy I am for this. I guess it just feels nice to have all the time and effort we've put in over the years as fans finally pay off to the fullest.

Thanks to tFS member slow_hands for breaking the news!!!! Now we celebrate! :)

i think it's safe to say that's gonna be the best selling VI issue in a long time. so happy about this news!

LOL. With Freja fans buying up copies in the dozen you can bet on that. I have a feeling they'll have to double their import of the issue into China...

This is fantastic news. A VI cover was one of the very few things that have been missing from her repertoire. I thought things couldn't better since the season where she scored 5/6 campaigns. This makes me very happy for her. On another note, I hope my local Barnes & Nobles is carrying a copy, or else they are fucked. I harassed them until they special ordered a copy of i-D for me last year.

This is one instance where I don't mind reposts. :p In fact, I think it's warranted.

Btw, B&Ns by me usually have VI. Borders too, so I think yours will have it as well.

wow im so happy for freja. Finally she's getting the type of recognition we all knew she deserved. Anything is truly possible.... remember when you were saying how unlikely it would be for her to make it to an icons list. this only serves as proof that, that and so much more is possible. Im so proud of her she's such a wonderful being. i wish i could be a model to work with her be around her. anything is truly possible. TALENT TIME & EFFORT. that should sum up her career

"In fact, hearing it now still seems a little surreal. Like a fuzzy dream that leaves remnants in your memory after you wake up." Ditto! Oh man, when I read this, I was like, "Oh my...oh my...what am I reading?!" Really great news >_<

I will skulk around Barnes and Nobles incessantly, then. MUST. GET.

And does Freja have a huge fanbase in China?

i have a feeling that freja is going get lots of campaign this season!

freja has a cult following in china!

Rrose Sélavy said...

@Miranda: I think so. In fact, I'm pretty sure she does. There are all these forums and sometimes they post at tFS and they're all over her official site. I think it's partly why she's always the most viewed model at tFS.

has anyone noticed that freja is smiling more this season?

To Meisel: I will love you as long as you support our Freja! Kisses and hugs to you!

Freja has a massive fan base of teen/early 20s girls in China. I think it's b/c her general skinny aesthetic is appreciated there.

I have to say the Chinese fans went crazy when they found out that Freja was in Shanghai for the Chanel show. If they had knew Freja's flight number, they'd waited for her at the airport for her! LOL!

i can already see the lines forming ala star war fans. LOL

now lets collectively wish for a major campaign she hasn't done yet. any suggestions?

I'm a Chinese American and I visit the Chinese forum often. I have to say that sometimes they can get really annoying. They love to call Freja a "Prince" (I hate this name!) and they always talk about Freja's personal life. But I'm glad they help Freja to become the Most Viewed Model on TFS.

Rrose Sélavy said...

@SF: omg, LMAO. I can picture it easily. Lines around the block, everyone wearing skinny black jeans and keffiyehs...

Now Meisel gives her the green signal, we can imagine him shooting her for all kinds of campaigns. I hope she gets Prada as the only girl. That would be major! Maybe Lanvin? Too bad Meisel doesnt shoot Dolce and Gabanna anymore. She's not a favorite of Galliano so she wont get Dior. I would also like to see Freja gets a perfume campaign.

Rrose Sélavy said...

Ugh, Lanvin would be a dream. So would Prada, but that's usually new girls.

I feel like we're getting ahead of ourselves a bit though...let's see the cover, and then maybe another edit and then we'll talk. I'm still afraid Meisel will stop working with her like he's done with so many before.

Miranda said...

I have the same fear about Meisel. I'm really anxious to see how the cover turns out, though...

And heaven forbid, but sometimes I can't help but wonder how far Freja's stardom will go.

I really don't think he'll randomly stop working with her, her look is very Meisel-ish lol.
I'm soo happy about this VI cover, she really deserves this cover. She's been around for so long, and she's worked hard and I'm just so happy for her. I can't wait for a picture! It's probably gonna look really strong yet spring-y.
I will def. be getting a copy as soon as I can, and the fact that it's an only girl editorial inside, yay!

Now I'm hoping for a Vogue Paris cover....

Anonymous said...

Well first Raquel needs a Vogue Paris cover because Jesus knows she deserves one! LOL.

Anonymous said...

I am there with you on Raquel. She needs an entire issue dedicated to her. I hope with Meisel on her side, we can see more of her on Vogue US and Italia.

Rrose Sélavy said...

^THIS! I would love a Freja VP cover, but if she gets one before Raquel I will rage.

Anonymous said...

@kunklebunkle: IKR? She really needs an entire issue to make up for all the years she's been on VP without a cover. She's had an editorial pretty much every month. She's a damn good model, versatile as hell.
It would be great for Freja to get a VP cover too, but Raquel really must get one :)
I'm still so happy about the VI cover. Honestly, so excited damn it.

SF said...

honestly i'll settle for a Vogue Russia or another Numero.

add me on for Raquel+ VP, Carine is just being cruel to her.

Anonymous said...

Ooh Numero would be nice. Considering how gorgeous her previous 2 Numero covers have been. Especially the one by Karl.
Carine is being quite cruel. Rose Cordero before Raquel? What a slap on the face (even though Rose's cover was quite fierce)

Get it, Freja. This really is your time.
