"On the catwalk, practically every model sported some element of fur, beginning with two dashing couples who looked like wild Siberian polar explorers. Yet, while the intrepid voyagers, they also looked stunningly beautiful, Freja Beha in a leather bomber jacket with huge white faux fox trim and Australian model Abbey Lee in a head-to-toe patchwork polar bear mix. Lagerfeld will use both models in Chanel’s next ready-to-wear campaign."!!!! I don't even know if I should be posting this because it just seems way too early. But Fashion Wire Daily is an actual, legitimate source so take the news which ever way you want to. :) If this is true, it's three times in a row as a Chanel girl for Freja.

Chanel Campaign News?
This might be a little pre-mature, but the source is pretty reputable. I think Freja might have the upcoming FW1011 Chanel campaign with Abbey.

I think if Claudia was not pregnant, she would've in the campaign too (replacing Abbey or Freja?). Becuz usually Chanel's campaign contract is for 2 seasons (i.e. Heidi in 2009, Claudia in 2008 and Freja in 2007).
I was hoping Freja would be get the ONLY GIRL campaign since Claudia is pregnant. Well..beggers cant be choosers..hehe
Interesting. This is Freja's third season though. Does this mean she'll also have next season as well because she just renewed for another two years?
I meant two seasons....not two years. Ugh...lack of sleep.
I think it's becuz of the 2 seasons contract, Heidi is out of the S/S 2010 campaign, and Freja continued on.
Since Claudia is pregnant, maybe Karl just gave 1 season contract to both Abbey and Freja? Or 1 season to Freja and 2 seasons to Abbey? I guess we'll have to see what happens next season. Maybe Claudia cannot lose her pregnant weight after giving birth, Karl needs Freja to continue her Chanel campaign. haha!
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing what you know! It's much appreciate. I just actually hope the news is correct and Freja actually does have the campaign. otherwise...I'll feel like an ass. :)
I also wonder how much Chanel pays Freja for her contract? I heard from some fashion insiders that the bigger the campaigns are, the less money you get. The best contracts come from cosmetics, perfume, commercial brands (Aldo), catalogues and brands like Ralph Lauren & CK. I know Karl is very generous with the people he likes (look at Baptiste!), but of course he is not Chanel's accountant. I just hope Freja gets compensated well.
lol....I'm sure Freja's fine and not living in a cardboard box. :) Even if Chanel "pays less" than the commercial jobs, it's still probably a lot of money. And we all know that Karl has treated Freja very well and been her biggest supporter throughout her entire career.
Great news. Good to see that she continues to be Karl's number one gal. The collection itself didn't hold any appeal for me. Interesting information about how Chanel contracts work. Maybe Freja's contract was extended by another couple of seasons. Who knows? Baptiste is a regular fixture in all of Chanel campaigns The two season rule doesn't seem to apply to him. I hope the same holds true for Freja ;P
Hey Prose, do you think Chanel leaks the campaign news so early is not good for Freja? Maybe other brands think Freja is associated with Chanel campaign, they wouldn't want to give their campaigns to her? Last season's Chanel campaign news leaked right after Paris shows wrapped. We all know Freja didnt get any other campaigns except Chanel even though she had a great runway season. Then again, Abbey had a great runway at the last season and she didnt get any campaigns either. Karlie got 4 or 5 campaigns for S/S 2010, but she exploded 2 seasons ago. I wonder if it takes 2 successful runway seasons to get more campaigns? Maybe some brands have a wait and see approach...?
Of course we all know this season is a bit different, becuz she has Meisel behind her. ^__^
oops i spelled ur name wrong...sorry. ^^
@anonymous: What I really think is that there are so many factors that go into determining who gets what campaign that it's impossible to say for sure why a girl does/doesn't have a good campaign season.
Some brands go with newer girls, or with the fav girls of the photographer shooting their campaign. Like I said...just too many factors to know for sure. But if Meisel is still shooting Freja then we *might* see her in something else.
I really doubt that the timing of the announcement would effect her chance's of scoring more campaigns. Last F/W campaign, she scored about five campaigns (or more, correct me if I am wrong) including Chanel. I think Freja is versatile enough to adapt to the sensibilities of various fashion houses. Also, to me Freja is more of a Gucci girl than Chanel.
Excellent point kunklebunkle (why don't you post at tFS again? I think you should.) Campaign castings really seem like they are a crap shoot. What makes sense one season, doesn't the next. Also, it will be really interesting to see how the agency shakeup everyone's buzzing about today will affect and change the game. Luckily, IMG doesn't seem to be outright affected, but it sounds like the entire industry overall will feel some kind of reverberating effects.
really excited until i saw abbey lee's name.*_*
oh well! i just hope chanel isn't the only thing in store for her.
^I'm with you SF! I'd rather see Baptiste wearing the womens clothes than Abbey! I hope Karl gets over her soon
but yeah congrats to Freja
I think when it comes to campaigns, people want a model whos face they know, which is why the supers are being re-cast so much, but Freja seems to have become synonymous with Chanel, therefore I am excited to see as to whether she really has this.
And as much as I love Abbey, poor Heidi, she's just been put aside.
x.
