Forays into Acting

I love you Freja, but I hope you're not one of those models who wants to transition into acting. Considering that you've probably never had any formal training, and that music seems to be more of your passion, I do think this was a valiant and commendable first effort on your part. However, you should probably stick to your day job.

Then again, you shouldn't be penalized for the execution of this concept. I'm sure it was pretty hard for you to identify with the roles you were asked to play seeing as you're from Denmark and not from China. A Chinese girl and a Chinese courtesan aren't characters I would ever relate to you, but I suppose such details as ethnic authenticity don't matter to the Kaiser. And I'm sure it was hard to recite that choppy and ridiculous dialogue with a straight face. I know I would have been laughing my ass off if I had to pretend I was talking to Coco Chanel.

Anyway, what matters here is that Karl is once again supporting your career and that is something I will always commend him for doing, no matter how bored I get seeing you only work with him. I gotta wonder though, does he have you and Baptiste under contract as part of his official traveling entourage? If so, does this contract maybe have a clause somewhere that allows you to work with other people like Nick Knight, Paolo Roversi, Camilla Akrans and Solve Sundsbo? I certainly hope so.

Starting @ 6:00

Starting at the beginning and going until 2:45

Starting @ 2:50 and going until 4:00

This was quite entertaining, but I'm much more impressed by the runway pictures from the show:

Karl always knows how to transport us to another world. It's escapism at it's best when we need it the most. While the quagmire in Afghanistan escalates, the debate on health care reform continues on, and the global economic downturn dominates, we can always count on Karl (and the fashion industry in general) to give us a world where these concerns don't exist. For this reason, most people consider fashion to be a frivolity. But it is precisely because of this reason why I consider fashion to be an absolute necessity.

Your thoughts on the vid? Freja's acting ability? The show? Freja working with Meisel (I still can't believe it)? And thanks to all the people who left comments telling me that the vid was up. It's sweet of you all to think of me, but I am a member at tFS so I already see the news as it's posted. Sorry, but I just can't update this blog instantaneously. So just because I don't post about something doesn't mean I don't know about it. Often times I'm waiting and thinking about what I want to post and how I want to post it. I don't want to post for the sake of posting....and isn't that what Freja's thread at tFS is for? ;)

As ever she looks stunning, i find her so compelling in black and white (is that weird?). But i think she should stick to her day job (although this looked like fun.

FREJA LOOKED GREAT BOTH IN THE VIDEO AND THE RUNWAY. I THINK HER ACTING WAS GOOD AND IT WAS A TREAT SEEING HER TALK AND INTERACT FOR A CHANGE, EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS PLAYING A ROLE DISTANT TO HER PERSONALITY. THE MOVIE WAS BASICALLY A DREAM AND DREAMS TEND TO HAVE THIS STRANGE AND SORT OF ABNORMAL VIBE WHERE THINGS DONE AND SAID MAY NOT MAKE MUCH SENSE, AND I GOT THAT FEELING FROM THE CHARACTERS IN THIS VIDEO. FREJA KEEP ON EXPANDING YOUR HORIZONS DONT LET NO ONE STOP YOU... AND AS FOR THE WRITER NEVER STOP WRITING I ALWAYS GET A JOY FROM READING YOUR BLOG. THANK YOU.

P.S. FREJA'S VOICE IS SO SEXY

that video is just awful! from the storyline, to Karl's directing abilities to the models acting skills. Freja should definitely stick to her day job. Heidi M and Edita were ok, but still talk about second hand embarrassment

I can't stop laughing! But it's really really sweet, and a lot of fun.

Okay, the acting is horrible. I had hoped they could do a little better, but well. It's fun to watch, but I've seen better. ;)

But what really rubbed me the wrong way this time, was how you ended the entry. "Just because I don't post, doesn't mean I don't know about it." came off really bitchy and rude. You should be happy that people think of you when they see something Freja related and tip you off. Be happy you have any reader at all! This attitude really annoyed me, even though I don't think you wanted to come off this way, it still left a bad impression.

I love your blog and the concept is awesome, but seriously.

Marie, within the entire context of my last paragraph (where I do thank people for tipping me off) I don't think the comment came off as rude. But that's your opinion and I respect that. The greatest downfall of electronic communication is that the subtleties of tone and intent are completely lost under the appeal of convenience and instantaneity.

To anyone else who thought I was being rude, I apologize as that was not my intent. I do appreciate the comments that this blog receives and I have definitely gotten some great tips from many readers before that I am truly thankful for and make sure to always acknowledge with proper credits.

I merely wanted people to know that this blog isn't a paying job (I could put ads all over it, but I don't want to do that) so I can't update it the second something breaks, even though I try my best. This is a labor of love that I put a lot of time, energy, and thought into. And to know that some of you think I don't appreciate people who take the time to read it disheartens me a lot, even though I've always made it a point to thank people for reading.

Freja's acting was wooden, her repetitive "Hen mei" dialogue atrocious. But I think that's more the fault of the director. You'd think with all of Chanel's money and high sartorial position they could have done a LOT better.

I mean, fake moustaches? Dreadful eyeliner meant to make their eyes look more 'slanty' or whatever? That's taken straight out of a school play!

I can't imagine how did they make up the weird story and set the characters. I'm from China. Almost everything is unrealistic based on what I know about China back in that age. When Freja acts as a courtesan, she looks more like the Empress Dowager, which amused me a lot. And I can't stop laughing when Freja says "how do I look like" and "very beautiful" in Chinese. That doesn't sound like her. Don't even mention the low quality of the whole film...the idea of this film is just weird...
