Skipping the Season

This post is brought to you entirely by the courtesy of the readers of this blog. :) In the comments section of yesterday's post, some news bits came to light:

-According to a tweet by one of Freja's mother agents, she's skipping the entire show season. The tweet has not been found or linked to yet. I don't know how to even go about searching the vast twitterverse for it, so put as much stock into this as you want. But with her absences at Gucci and Fendi, I believe it to be true. So enjoy the break Freja. It's completely well deserved.

-Apparently there was exhibition of Karl's photographs in Rome on the 15th of February. Video has surfaced from the event, and in it you can catch glimpses of a lot of the work Freja has done with Karl including some never before seen Chanel SS11 ad campaign shots/outtakes.

What does it all mean?! Is it really just a break? I don't know much about models and their world...I'm just an obsessed Freja fan!

Still loving your blog btw <3

^Doesn't necessarily mean anything other than that she's just taking a break. Freja has been working for 6 straight years, which is an eternity in the modeling industry. She's at a level and status where she can afford to rest, without it affecting her career too much.

So don't worry. :)

Yes, I think I'd take a break too!

Thank you :)

I would think if she materializes at all, it would be at Chanel.

I met Abbey Lee last week and happened to ask her what Freja was going to be up to and while she said she hadn't spoken to her in about a week and that she thought she may be in Milan and Paris, she did say that Freja has been super busy and may be taking a break.

im so sad! i hope this isnt it for her! granted, she totally deserves a break, jetting around the world most months of the year totally takes a toll on the body and mind.

High fives to Freja for hanging up her heels (even if it is just for this season). Not only will it be great for her to take a break after the last year and a half, it will also likely increase her appeal. All the work that she's gotten lately has left a lot of people feeling she's a bit overexposed, but deciding to take the season off might give the public a little bit of a recup too. Well, aside from the 12 other editorials she shot with Arizona, anyway. :P

but if she skip the fashion week ,what advertising she will get?no chanel ,no Valentino ,OMG

Я думаю, что Фрея заслужила отдых. Работать без перерыва в течение 6 лет, это утомляет. Надеюсь увидеть ее на новых показах. Freja, I wish you were the highly-paid model in the world.

Don't worry about the Chanel campaign, her relationship with the label and with Karl won't go down the tubes because she missed a runway show. Valentino might be gone, and LV too.

But I would not be surprised at all if she's the face of Hugo Boss. And aside from that, she will get other campaigns, or at least offers from New York to Tokyo and everywhere in between.

There was a time when she seemed not to have commercial appeal, but I think that's long past now? She is massive in Asia, but she has also booked campaigns with brands like the Gap and H&M recently.

I really don't feel like there's any cause for concern. It's like supply and demand right? Now that she's so popular and everybody wants her, her value as an advertising tool (sorry for the crudeness, but it's true) goes up. If she becomes more exclusive, it intensifies the usefulness of her image because the fewer brands she represents, the more rotation those ads will get among people who are following or interested in Freja.

Just think about it: if only one label manages to book Freja for a campaign, lots of people will wonder "Wow, what happened with her? She was everywhere last season and now she's only doing Chanel. What's so special about Chanel?" Not the best example, but you get the point. When a top model is exclusive, she drive up her own commercial value, as well as public interest/exposure specific to the brand she is representing.

It's a plan that will keep her relevant for much longer than if she does nine campaigns a season. Don't worry friends! :)

i hope you guys are right. sometimes we forget that Freja is just a model and that models are always important but never essential. so i hope Freja is the exception (because i love everything she does fashion wise)
but i'm really hoping that she shows up at least at Chanel, that would be amazing.

I hope this is right! Chanel, Valentino and LV is all I ask for.

I really don't think so, she had a showcard for Milan no? and she skipped it.

Maybe it doesn't mean anything but, I'm wondering why they did not use a much recent image for her showcard.
