NY Out, Europe In?

It's official. Freja is skipping New York Fashion Week for the first time in her career. The word comes to us from streetstyle photographer extraordinaire Bonae.
"A good source informed that Freja Beha Erichsen is skipping NYFW this season."
Now it remains to be seen if Freja will be skipping the entire FW1112 season, or just the city of New York. Will she show up in London? She didn't walk there last season and she doesn't have a showcard for this city either, but it's where Tom Ford is showing his intimate presentation this time around. Will she make it there? She's not necessarily a favorite of his, so I have my doubts.

That leaves us with Milan and Paris. If showcards are any indication (thanks to reader Julie for the tip!), she'll make her debut there. Possibly in grand style at Gucci, as a friend with a knack for crystal ball speculations jokingly predicted to me. :) All jokes aside, I really do think Freja will wait until Europe to walk. It's nearly impossible to think of her missing shows like Chanel, Fendi, Gucci and Valentino. Right?

So with a European showcard for reassurance, we'll just have to wait a little while to get our Freja fix. In the meantime, enjoy the shows and discover some new girls to follow. As usual, there's plenty of them stomping up and down the catwalks of NY.

Crow- Freja hasn't dropped out of modeling. She is still a model. She just isn't going to be walking in new york fashion week this season, which is not an uncommon thing for established models to do. We'll probably see her in Milan and Paris. No worries!

To watch out for other new models? You bet, Rose. For the past few months I've been very much into Julia Nobis. I think she has the potential to make it big in the industry, even if she's not one of those pretty-face girls. She's different and I think she has promise.

I think there's no way she'll miss Paris and Milan, she's too good friedn/muse to so many designers there.

Not just Freja, but Anja Rubik, Natasha Poly and Sasha P seem to be MIA from NYFW. Maybe our beloved Freja just needs a break from working non stop for five years. If she decides to take more time off I wouldn't hold it against her. In fact one of my favorite models, Iekeliene Stange, has been absent from the fashion scene for what seems to be an eternity. All work and no play is not good for the body.

@ Jessica and Ashley: Julia and Britt are both great choices for new models to follow. I'm partial to a more dark/dangerous type of girl myself, hence my obsession with Aymeline Valade. :)

@ Mona Lisa: Iekeliene is walking some show this season! Granted nothing big, but I remember seeing her at a few presentations and whatnot. You can double check in the model showlist thread at tFS.

@Rrose Selavy: OMG you're right! Thanks for reminding me. I checked out her thread on tFS and found some new updates. She looked amazing at Christian Dior's Haute Couture S/S 2011 and United Bamboo's F/W 2011 show at NYFW. I'm so excited that she's back! (^_^)
