First Sighting

Hooray! Starting off fashion month with an appearance at Rag and Bone! And it looks like Freja is growing her hair out and she has bangs again. I think its at the odd in between length right now so it will be interesting to see how the stylists at shows deal with it. As much as I love her with short hair, I'm quite excited at the prospect of seeing Freja looking like this again in the near future:

Fashion week has started. Will Freja be present? Here is her New York show tally from last season:

I really hope she walks Rag & Bone and Alexander Wang again, as they are two of my favorite labels. And I also hope she shows up at some unexpected shows like she did last season at Herve Leger and Rosa Cha. The anticipation is killing me right now. Only a few more hours to go until Rag & Bone. Fingers crossed! Which runways do you want to see Freja walking down?

Thank you Karl!

Freja is definitely back in the good graces of Karl Lagerfeld. First she showed up on the runway of his Chanel Haute Couture show looking bright, delicate and very bridal. And now here she is looking dark, moody and mysterious in the SS09 ad for his eponymous line. This season is turning out quite well for her! First Roberto Cavalli and now Karl Lagerfeld. Are there any other campaigns yet to be released? If so, I'm half expecting Freja to be in them. :)

In case anyone is wondering, she's wearing the 15th look from the show, as seen below on Sara Blomqvist.


The collection was in my top ten from this past season. I especially loved the arm wrapping jewelry and gauntlet-like cuffs on some of the models.

And the silver dress that Anna Jagodzinska wore to close out the show was particularly beautiful in its simplicity. I would love to see Freja in that look for a campaign shot. However, I think this is a smaller campaign so I'm not sure we'll see anything else. Does anyone know for sure?

All of this is making me even more excited for fashion month beginning in a few days time! Freja seems to be back at full force so hopefully we won't be disappointed. And you can totally bet that I'll be keeping my eyes peeled to see who gets the opening or closing slots at all of Karl's shows.

Do blondes have more fun?

Check out that hair! Check out that body! Check out that clear, tattoo-free skin! I had pretty much given up hope that Freja would snag any major campaigns this season, but I should have known better. With a face and body like that, her omission from this season's campaign landscape would have been a mistake. Luckily Inez and Vinoodh heard the collective wishes of the Behans and photographed Freja, along with Daria, for Roberto Cavalli's SS09 campaign.

I'm still not sure how I really feel about the blonde hair. I&V really seem to prefer that look for Freja as they have given it to her for all their recent collaborations--the Self Service editorial comes immediately to mind. Regardless, I'm just so happy to see Freja bringing it. She might only have three shots compared to Daria's nine, but she really makes those three work. It would have been wonderful to see Freja and Daria together in one shot, but beggars can't be choosers. At this point I'm thrilled with what we've got! I'll save my Freja/Daria collaboration wishes for another time.

2009 has started off really well for Freja. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that us fans will continue to get a steady stream of work from her. The first test will be her show log for the upcoming FW season. Will we see her on the runways in NY, Milan and Paris? Or will she skip out early like she did last season? I think we're all hoping its the first scenario, and if that's the case then maybe we'll see more ad campaigns next season as a result.

Chanel Haute Couture

Freja is back and better than ever! She opened and closed Chanel's Haute Couture SS09 show today in Paris. Sashaying down the runway in a brilliant pantsuit, outrageous headpiece and very long train, she embodied the Chanel bride of today--understated femininity in a modernly sleek form.


While the look may appear simple at first glance, you must take a look at the detail. This is no ordinary bride as the delicate paper folds, roses and thorns will tell you. This is haute couture and it is exciting to see Freja make a return to this runway. Her last appearance came during the SS07 season where she made her first appearance as the Chanel bride.


Two appearances as the Chanel bride....does this bode well for Freja's immediate future? Could her small comeback mean that Karl is back in love with our androgynous catwalker, tattoos and all? I certainly hope so! Karl is known for having his "it" girls and moving on from them fairly quickly and permanently. But I really hope his decision to bring Freja back as the bride means that we'll be seeing her strutting on the NY, Milan and Paris catwalks in full force this upcoming FW season. And if she holds the opening and/or closing slots at any of Karl's shows, I hope this means another campaign under her belt.

Apologies...

for the lack of updates. Although, Freja hasn't done much lately for me to update on. I swear, she must hibernate for part of the year or something. She always seems to disappear right around the Spring/Summer runway season. We did get new editorial in the January 2009 issue of Vogue Nippon which I will post later on. But I'm still holding out hope for some ad campaign news. Fingers crossed!
